A STUDY TO INVESTIGATE FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO BACK PAIN AMONG STUDENT NURSES AT UZIMA UNIVERSITY IN KISUMU KENYA
Abstract
Improving knowledge about the prevalence of BP and factors associated with BP among nurses’ students is important since it allows the assessment of the impact of this disease in this population group and can also help organize measures necessary for prevention and control. The objectives of this study are to determine the factors influencing back pain among student’s nurses in Uzima University. This study will be carried out in Uzima University Kisumu. The study will specifically look at the ergonometric, BMI and psychological factors. In this study, descriptive cross-sectional research design will be used with a target population of 250 respondents. A sample population of 200 respondents will be selected by simple random sampling. A structured questionnaire will be used to collect data. After collecting the data at the end of the research, data will be analyzed by inferential statistics. The questionnaires will pass through a quality check where they will be checked for completeness, detection of errors among others. Investigating the BP in nurse’s students in the selected setting contributes to the available literature which is available and improves our understanding of the situation. Moreover, results of the current study are useful for nursing professionals’ future strategic approaches in primary and secondary prevention of BP among nurses.
