EFFECTS OF SUBSTANCE MISUSE TO MENTAL HEALTH AMONG THE YOUTHS AND ADOLESCENTS AT KISUMU COUNTY HOSPITAL

Abstract

This study tends to investigate mental illness and disturbances of the mental health as a result of substance use and drug abuse. the objectives being: the etiology of substance use, the predisposing factors, the commonly affected cohorts, besides the effects of substance use, preventive measures, curative measures etc. descriptive research paradigm was used in this study with the target population being respondents who are both psychiatric and non-psychiatric patients at Kisumu County Teaching and Referral Hospital. Since research largely involves a compilation of knowledge that is already made, I obtained secondary data from various sources such as electronic books, social media (television news, radio), websites, online libraries e.g., z-library and published books of mental health.
