    Abstract
    Background Exposure of needle stick injuries is a global problem. Every day while caring for patients, healthcare workers are at risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens and infections such as HIV or hepatitis B and C. Health care workers in Kisumu county face a threat with HIV prevalence at a high 17.5% compared to the national 6.3%. Study purpose The aim of this study is to assess knowledge, attitude and practice towards management of needle stick injuries. Study objectives 1. To determine Health Care Workers knowledge about management and Needle stick injuries . To determine attitude of Health care workers about management of Needle stick injuries . 3. To determine Health care workers practice about management of Needle stick injuries. Study population will be the health care workers at Jaramogi oginga Odinga Teaching and Refferal Hospital with a target population of 150 Health Care Workers. Study area it will be conducted in Accident & Emergency department and general in patient wards. Study methodology a cross-sectional descriptive design will be used. Data collection structured self administered questionnaire .Data interpretion SPSS version 25.0 will be used for data entry and analysis. Descriptive statistical technique of measure of central tendency, measure of dispersion and measures of association will be employed. Data analysis Graphs bar charts will be used to represent data . Benefits of the study The study findings will address the safety and health of Health Care Workers. It will also help hospital management to identify the areas that need improvement to enhance adherence to SOPCs and reduce the cost due to loss of manpower from NSI.
